Bethnal Green Police Station was closed due to a 23-year-old man reporting that a gun had been fired in the direction of his car. He attended the station at around 5.50pm on Wednesday, 13 April.
At the time, Tower Hamlets Police tweeted: “Due to an ongoing incident our front office at Bethnal Green Police Station is currently closed, please use alternative station or dial 101.”
The man was accompanied by a 13-year-old girl, who was in the car and had received a minor injury as a result of the incident. First aid was given by officers and a police cordon was set up around Victoria Park Square. The ambulance service attended the scene and she was taken to an east London hospital to receive treatment.
After the police made initial enquires, officers established that the incident happened in the area of Cheshire Street, E2.
Local officers along and firearms officers attended and road closures were put in place whilst a search of the area was carried out. There have been no arrests and enquiries are ongoing.
