Coronavirus: 10 new confirmed cases in Tower Hamlets

As of 20 March there were 43 CONFIRMED cases of Coronavirus in Tower Hamlets

The official total coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Tower Hamlets rose by 10 to 43 which is nearly a 30% jump from the previous day.

On Thursday there was 33 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Tower Hamlets, out of a local population of 317,705. On Monday there was there were just 12 confirmed cases but on Tuesday there were 25.

Coronavirus is spreading faster in London than any other part of the country. The risk to the UK has been raised to high.

Cafes, pubs and restaurants were all told to shut on Friday night except for take-away food – to tackle coronavirus, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said.

All the UK’s nightclubs, theatres, cinemas, gyms and leisure centres have also been told to close “as soon as they reasonably can”.

To help reduce the transmission of COVID-19 the government is asking everyone to takes steps in social distancing to reduce social interaction between people.

177 patients in the UK who tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) have sadly died.

The government announced that most schools in the UK will close on Friday 20 March until further notice. Some will remain open for vulnerable children and children of ‘key workers’.
