Two men have been arrested and a large quantity of class A drugs and cash seized following an investigation by the Met’s Specialist Crime Command.
The specialist officers stopped a minicab near Aldgate East Underground Station on Thursday and searched the passenger. They found a rucksack which contained two and a half kilograms of cocaine and approximately £50,000 in cash.
A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs and possession of criminal property.
Officers carried out enquiries at three addresses linked to the suspect. At one address, officers stopped a man who was seen leaving with a large suitcase. Officers searched the suitcase and found a further two and a half kilograms of cocaine and about £350,000 in cash.
The man, aged 34, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs and possession of criminal property.
Both men were taken to an east London police station where they remain in custody.
