Appeal following fail to stop collision

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and
information following a fail to stop collision in
Stepney.

Police were called at around 01:18hrs on Friday, 21 April to
reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian in
Commercial Road, near the junction with Belgrave Street, E1.
The car did not stop at the scene.

Officers attended the collision along with London Ambulance
Service and found a 39-year-old man injured at the scene.

He was taken to an east London hospital where he remains in a
serious condition, described at potentially life changing but
not life threatening.

Detectives from the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing
Command are investigating. They would like to speak with
anyone who witnessed the collision or saw a black car
speeding away from the area.
