In January last year Adam Deacon, a BAFTA Award winning actor confronted a neighbour outside his flat in Bethnal Green with a sword.
The jury at Snaresbrook Crown Court heard that the victim, Harry Dix had been making his way home when Deacon started to shout at him at the bottom a block of flats.
His neighbour Henry Dix had alleged that the star had approached him and allegedly asked him if he lived there.
When Mr Dix allegedly refused to answer, Adam Deacon pulled out a 3 foot sword and chased him for “about 20 yards”. He said he felt “threatened” and ran away.
The court previously heard a 999 call in which a neighbour is heard telling the operator that she had seen someone with a “big f****** blade”. A sword, which had a two foot long blade, was recovered from Deacon’s flat by police.
Deacon had claimed that he was not criminally responsible for the incident because he was mentally unwell at the time.
After hearing both sides of the argument, the jury which consisted of seven men and five women found the actor not-guilty of affray and possessing an offensive weapon. Adam Deacon said “thank you”, in the dock as the verdicts were delivered.
