Police were called to reports of a stabbing on East India Dock Road, near the junction with Hale Street today.

Police officers and London Ambulance Service crew found a man, who they believe to be 17, ‘suffering a stab injury’.

The teenager was taken to hospital, where his condition is not thought to be life-threatening.

The police have authorised a section 60 order across Tower Hamlets, south of the A11, from 6.30pm today until 7.30am tomorrow morning (Tuesday, April 27).

Section 60 gives police the right to search people in a defined area during a specific time period when they believe, with good reason, that:

  • Serious violence will take place and it is necessary to use this power to prevent such violence.
  • That a person is carrying a dangerous object or offensive weapon.
  • That an incident involving serious violence has taken place and a dangerous instrument or offensive weapon used in the incident is being carried in the locality.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them on 101 or tweet @MetCC and quote CAD4466/26Apr.
