Adventure Playground in Weavers Field to get refurbished

Weavers has been an independent community-run charity since they were founded in 1974.

Weavers Field Adventure Playground in Bethnal Green is to be refurbished after a London firm of architects and engineers HTS announced plans to help ‘breathe life’ in to the site which is in dire need of repair.

All HTS structural advice and support is being undertaken on a pro bono basis for this rewarding community project

Weavers will be seeking to do much of the work using volunteer experts (such as HTS and architectural designers), as well as donated materials and labour.

Once there is a finalised budget of costs relating to the project, they will seek to raise funds from multiple sources such as crowd funding, charitable foundations, local businesses and the wider community.

They are finalising plans for the community building, but work outside will begin in May, with their first “community fix” day. The park does not currently anticipate that opening times will be affected.

Volunteers can sign up to find out about opportunities to help at Weavers here: http://eepurl.com/bTZMkv They are also on Twitter @WeaversPlayE2
so volunteers can find out more through social media.

HTS said: “(we) are delighted to be taking a hands-on approach to this rewarding project for Weavers Adventure Playground. We are excited about collaborating with the local community and look forward to the playground taking shape this summer”
