Appeal for witnesses to a fatal collision between a coach and a pedestrian in Bethnal Green on 24 March

Roads and Transport Policing officers are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision between a coach and a pedestrian in Bethnal Green.

The Metropolitan Police released a statement that read:

On Thursday, 24 March police were called at around 23:35hrs to reports of the collision in Mile End Road, near the junction with Stayners Road, E1.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended the scene and the pedestrian, a 39-year-old man, was taken to an east London hospital in a critical condition.

He later died at hospital on Sunday, 27 March. Next of kin are aware.

A post mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

The coach stopped at the scene. The driver was not arrested.

Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are carrying out enquiries into the circumstances of the collision.

They are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision, that hasn’t already spoken to police, but may have seen or heard anything to contact them.
