Council to shut SOME markets, remaining markets limited

Six markets are to shut with five remaining open with restrictions

Following discussions the council has had with organisers and operators, a number of markets in Tower Hamlets will close until further notice.

The markets to be closed are: Brick Lane, Columbia Road, Petticoat Lane, Scatler Street and Victoria Park.

The council are limiting the number of stalls at remaining markets which are: Bethnal Green, Chrisp Street, Roman Road Square, Watney Market and Whitechapel.

These markets will be limited to sales of non-prepared food and household items only.

These measures are important to ensure traders & customers can follow social distancing guidance the council Tweeted.
