Two men have been arrested after three police officers were assaulted at an illegal rave, where around 100 people were partying in Limehouse.

The police were called to the commercial premises on Yorkshire Road, E14 just before 2am on Saturday after residents reported seeing large crowds and hearing music.

At the premises, officers found approximately 100 people at a unlicensed music event, which breached current Covid-19 regulations.

The police said they tried to engage with the crowd, but they rushed towards the exit and three officers were assaulted.

Two men, aged 35 and 39, were arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker. Both remain in custody at an east London police station.
