On Sunday 8th May 2016 at around midday the police and paramedic service were called to Whitechapel Road after reports of a collision involving a car and two pedestrians, a 40-year-old man and his four-year-old son.

A spokesperson for the police said at the time that the man had “potentially life threatening or life changing” injuries. The police said that his son was also taken to hospital but is in a stable condition.
