Their Majesties The King and The Queen Consort will embark on a historic visit to the vibrant heart of the British Bangladeshi community in Brick Lane on 8th February. The visit, hosted by British Bangladeshi Power and Inspiration (BBPI) co-founders, Ayesha Qureshi MBE JP and ClIr Abdal Ullah, will see a partnership between BBPI, Tower Hamlets Council, Brick Lane Business Association, and Brick Lane Jamme Masjid Trust come to fruition.

The royal couple will have the opportunity to meet with community leaders who were instrumental in the anti-racism movement of the 1970s and learn about the impact of Covid-19 on local charities and businesses. They will also be introduced to the women of the BBPI Jamdani Network, who are making significant contributions to communities on a local, national, and global scale. The visit will conclude with a visit to the Brick Lane Mosque, where Their Majesties will gain insight into the rich history of the building, which has served as a home for three Abrahamic faiths.

“This visit is a significant moment for the British Bangladeshi community,” says Abdal Ullah. “Brick Lane holds a special place in our hearts, and we are thrilled to share our history and culture with Their Majesties. We are humbled and excited for this historic visit.”
