Free bulk waste removal for Tower Hamlets residents

Residents of Tower Hamlets will no longer be charged by the council to have large or bulky waste items taken away.

Tower Hamlets made the decision to scrap the £15 charge introduced in 2012 to help alleviate the problems with fly-tipping across the borough.

Now each household is entitled to two free collections per year (up to five items) to be taken away by the council’s Clean Team per collection.
Previously only residents in receipt of housing benefit were entitled to free collections.
Now all residents can arrange for bulky or large waste to be collected in the usual way, by calling the Streetline Team on 020 7364 5004.
If residents want more than two collections of large waste items a year, this will incur additional charges. For further information contact the Streetline Team.
