Paedophile in Tower Hamlets given 16 year sentence

Resident of Tower Hamlets, Lee Stuart Curley, performed sexual attacks from May 2015 to March 2016.

The court was told about his vile habits which included ownership of over a thousand images of child abuse. Along with this, details about more than 120 images and videos of Curley performing the acts on his mobile devices.

In 14 years of investigating serious and sexual crime, this was one of the worst cases I have dealt with.

He will also be subjected to a Sexual Harm prevention order for the remainder of his life.

Arrested on the 5th of March, he initially pleaded not guilty while changing this to guilty during his hearing at Snaresbrook crown court in May after being presented with the accumulated evidence. His plea included being guilty of raping a small girl, under the age of 13; possession of sexual assaults performed on children by himself along with multiple other indecent photographs.

“Curley’s vile actions will have a dramatic impact on his victim for the rest of her life. It is vital she gets the support she needs as soon as possible to help recover from the ordeal.

Curley was described as ‘depraved’ throughout the course of his trial. He was charged with a further six offences related to a second victim which he had groomed from 2012 to 2014.

DC Carla Goymer-Ellice, of the sexual offences, exploitation and child abuse command, said it was one of the worst cases she ever dealt with.

“My thoughts throughout this inquiry have been with those who suffered at the hands of this man.

“It was a terrible series of assaults that upset even experienced investigators, but we were all fully committed to bringing the man responsible to justice.”

An NSPCC spokesman said: “The level of torrid abuse Curley’s young victim suffered was extreme. No child should ever have to go through what she went through.
