The police have launched a murder inquiry after a 20 year old man was shot dead in a block of flats in Bethnal Green on Monday.
The emergency services were called to the scene and found a man, who has been named by the Evening Standard as Jordan Bari, 20, suffering gunshot injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after.
It is believed Jordan Bari was shot at “point blank range” as he answered the door to a property.
Jordan Bari was a black-belt in Taekwondo and had won a number of trophies and titles a Taekwondo club in East London, their members have represented Great Britain at the Olympics.
Kieran Mackey, who had trained the fighter from the age of seven to 17, told the Evening Standard: “It’s absolutely tragic. He was a lovely lad and an exceptionally talented martial artist.
“He competed in tournaments all over Britain and won loads of titles.
“He was a nice, kind person he trained hard and got on with things. I can’t imagine him being caught up in anything bad. It’s a complete shock.”
DCI Chris Jones told The Sun “I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around 8pm on Monday evening and saw anything suspicious in the vicinity of Florida Street to come forward and speak to police.
“At this early stage we are still working to establish the reasons why this young man was killed – if you have any information that could help, please contact us”
