A former member of police staff has been convicted of
possessing indecent images of children.

Gary Rice, 51, (18.05.65), formerly a property officer at
Bethnal Green Police Station, pleaded guilty at Snaresbrook
Crown Court on Tuesday, 2 May to three counts of possessing
indecent images of children

He was sentenced to nine months’ imprisonment to run
concurrently, suspended on each count for two years. He also
has an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order with
notification requirements for 10 years.

On 13 November 2016 a warrant was executed at an address in
Barking. Rice was subsequently charged as above and resigned
from the MPS within a week of being arrested.
