After the result of the EU Referendum was announced it made a lot of people unhappy including Tower Hamlets who voted to remain.
Analysis of the results show that Tower Hamlets residents voted to remain by a big margin. 67.5% of residents voted to remain and 32.5% of residents voted to leave.
The overall EU referendum results were 48% for remain (16,141,241m votes) and for leave was 52% (17,410,742m votes). Leave won with over one million votes.
A right wing activist started a petition a month before the vote when it was looking unlikely that ‘leave’ were going to win, with the intention asking the government to implement a rule that if the remain or leave vote is less than 60% based a turnout less than 75% there should be another referendum.
This petition has over two million votes and at least 20 thousand of them are from Tower Hamlets.
Basically the petition is asking for another vote just to make sure.
