Detectives are appealing for the public’s help to trace
a man they wish to speak to in connection with the murder of
his ex-girlfriend on Thursday, 4 May.

Grzesiek Kosiec, aged 23, a Polish national, was last seen at
his home address in Dora Street, E14, shortly after a number of
people suffered stab wounds.

Officers are concerned for his welfare and urgently want to
trace Kosiec so they can speak to him about the events of that
evening.

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service shortly
before 23:00hrs on 4 May. Officers, the London Ambulance
Service and London’s Air Ambulance attended the location, but
the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has yet to be formally identified; however police
believe she was 20-year-old Karolina Chwiluk. She had gone to
Dora Street that evening to visit friends who lived there with
Kosiec.

At some point that night a fight broke out, which resulted in
Karolina being fatally stabbed. Two other people were taken to
hospital suffering stab wounds, but were later discharged.

Kosiec left the address prior to police arrival. Significant
lines of investigation are being pursued to locate him.

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Jones from the Homicide
and Major Command, who is investigating Karolina’s murder,
said:

“I would like to speak to Kosiec about the murder of Karolina.
He was last seen at the house where she and two others who were
trying to protect her were stabbed.

“It may be that friends of Kosiec who do not realise what has
happened are giving him a place to stay, or other help. If that
is the case, I’d urge them to get in contact with us as soon as
possible.

“If you see Kosiec, or have information about where he may be,
please contact us. He is known to work in south London and to
have links to the N17 and N18 areas of north London.

“Given what took place at Dora Street that night, I have every
reason to believe that he is violent, and so would ask anyone
who sees him to call police immediately.”

Kosiec is described as 5ft 10ins in height and of skinny build.
He has brown hair usually worn in a top knot. He was last seen
wearing black jogging bottoms and a dark t-shirt.

A post-mortem examination held on Friday, 5 May, determined
cause of death to be as a result of a stab wound.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact the incident
room on 020 8345 3734, or if you see Kosiec dial 999.
