James Cannon, who grew up in Poplar was involved in a motorbike accident in Ko Pha Ngan, Thailand on Friday 6th May which resulted in him being seriously injured and hospitalised.

James went to Tower Hamlets College and graduated. His mother was unwell so could not fly out to Thailand to see her son but his brothers flew out on Sunday 8th to be by his side.

His sister in law said: “He fractured every bone in his face, bleeding on the brain and may lose sight in his right eye, he has been in 3 hospitals so far and already the price of hospital bills are adding up massively”.

“We are trying to raise as much funds… to pay for the hospital fees and bring him home”.

His family who live in Stepney Green and Poplar started a Facebook campaign to help raise money for medical fees, so far they have raised over £9000.

His travel and medical insurance had apparently just run out before his employer was able to renew it.

The latest news is James is recovering well but there is no news on when he will be back in the UK.
